2012: The war in Iran ...
US and Israel are beating the war drums ... for war with Iran. The warmongers in the 2 countries are saying that Iran is close, very close, to developing a nuclear weapon. The moment when Iran develops the first weapon, Israel will attack Iran targeting the nuclear complex first with conventional weapons, that is, missiles and bombs. If this is a no go, then Israel will simply drop a nuclear bomb that generates high half-life radioactive fallouts, such as cobalt and strontium 90.
Iran will retaliate using thousands of missiles against Israel, providing an excuse for Israel to counter attack with more nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, the ineffective head of the United Nations, the myopic and stuttering Ban Ki-Moon is bowing and scraping to US and Europe, Russia and China to plead with them to stop this war, amidst cynical laughters from the other nations - exactly what had happened in Libya when no one listened to him.
Netanyahu will cook up some excuse that Israel has been attacked by Iran and it's only right that he hits back - an eye for an eye, that sort of thing.
Meanwhile Obama is watching who is going to win, or at least, who is going to have the advantage. If it is Iran, then US is ever ready to step in to help Israel; if Israel is winning, then Obama will simply sit back or make some rhetorical speeches.
US has always been in some kind of war in its history. It is the most warlike nation on earth. If it's not fighting the Indians, it's fighting the Mexicans. In modern times, its fighting the Germans and the Japanese. And in still recent times, it's fighting in the Middle and the Near East.
After Korea and Vietnam, it engaged in a war with Afghanistan, followed by a war in Iraq. In Korea, the excuse was an invitation by the United Nations to drive back invading North Koreans, while in Vietnam, it created the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident" to get an excuse for war with the North Vietnamese. In Iraq, it was the "weapons of mass destruction" excuse to finally remove Saddam Hussain when, in an earlier war with Iraq, President HW Bush did not topple Saddam Hussain.
And now, it's Iran's turn. Somehow, the Israelis do not like to see Iran's ability to make nuclear bombs, and getting the US to do something about it. Like an obedient Israel stooge, US is calling all its allies and other neutral countries to impose an embargo on Iran, hoping that the Iranian people would rise up and topple the present government. The US tried this tactic in Iraq, but it didn't work. So, it did what other warmongers would do, it attacked Iraq. US is now trying this tactic again, and if it doesn't work, it will simply attack Iran.
Iran will not be easy meat for Israel or the US. For one, the country is so vast that fighters are easy targets for Iranian missiles from bases spread in numbers along the length and breadth of Iran. Conventional bombs and missiles would not demoralise the Iranians to fight back. Saddam Hussain, with preponderance of weapons, regretted in having attempted to conquer Iran. For another, the Iranian people do not fear death as the Iraqis, who meekly surrendered to US soldiers in the 1990 and 2003 Iraq war. Only perhaps, using nuclear bombs in great numbers would the US or Israel be able to conquer Iran.
