When shopping in KL, be prepared to be ignored ..
Customers are advised from buying anything from this shop in Ampang Complex. The shop in question, which is a camera and photo shop, is on the ground floor on the same wing as the MacDonald. The last time I was there was in December 2004. I was out looking for a Nikon digital camera and was attracted to the expensive digital Nikon D70 that was on display. I heard so much about it that I was determined to have it in order to replace my old Fuji digital.
The 2 women that managed the shop didn't bother to greet me as I entered. There was no other customer besides me. After looking at the various other cameras on display, I asked the obvious question of how much the D70 camera cost ? Without as much as a smile, the shorter of the 2 women, rudely said it was such and such a price and before I could ask another question about the camera, she quickly attended to another customer who had just entered.
She pretended not to listen to me when I raised one or two more questions. She was more interested in attending to the customer who came to have his digital photos printed. I got no help from the other woman either. She was more concerned with doing her paperwork than attending to a potential customer.
With that kind of an attitude shown by such "shopkeepers" I would rather take my business elsewhere and eventually bought the particular camera from a shop in Times Square. The shop assistant was helpful in attending to all my queries. He even said" Sir, can I help you ?" as I entered his shop.
It seems to me that some shop assistants, especially those found in the old shopping complexes, expect you to buy their goods on a "take it or leave it" basis. Apparently, they have no time to answer your questions. Attending to customer queries on their goods seems to be a chore that these "salesmen" could do without. They have the attitude that by going to their shops, you have just disturbed them from whatever they are doing.
