According to the Statistics Dept. of Malaysia, the country's population today at 17:20 hours is 28,553,332. At the same time , the world population is 6,928,071,850, growing at the rate of 2 persons every second.
In 2010, the life expectancy for the Malaysian male is 71.7 years while for the female it's 76.6 years. Two years before, it was 71.6 % and 76.4 % respectively.
The annual population growth is 1.3 %. [By 2050, i.e. 39 years hence, and assuming constant annual growth rate of 1.3 %, Malaysia's population would have increased to 46,336,838]. The crude birthrate is 21.08 per 1,000 in 2011 (estimated) which has dropped from 23.7 per 1,000 in 2003. Similarly, the death rate has dropped from 5.12 per 1,000 in 2003 to 4.93 per 1,000 in 20111 (estimated).
Malaysia's labour force was 11,517,200 while those in employment, the number 11,129,400. Unemployment rate in 2010 stood at 3.4 %.
