At last, Osama bin Laden has been captured. Unfortunately for the US, it has captured Osama's dead body which now lies in "state" in the US. News has it that Osama was killed yesterday (Sunday) in a US operation in Pakistan. Whether his death has made the world "safer" as some people claim, I am not sure, but some Americans are seen celebrating his death; even George Bush congratulates Barack Obama for the latter's success in finally resolving the Osama issue when the former fails to do. Certainly, no one would breathe a sigh of relief on hearing the death of Osama while on the contrary many people would be more distressed by the fear of escalating attacks on US in the future.
It's incredible that, according to CNN, BBC, and Al-Jazeera and various other news media that Osama was buried at sea just less than 2 days after he was killed with a bullet to the head. And to make matters more incredible, he was buried in accordance with Muslim rites !
Now, look at it from my point of view. Firstly, after the shooting has stopped, the soldiers would examine all the dead bodies to make sure that they were all dead. Then they would have to make sure that they have identified them correctly. Some time would be spent to photograph and videograph the bodies of Osama and 3 or 4 others. Fingerprints would also be taken. The soldiers would spend some time congratulating among themselves, and flurries of tele-communications would fly from the soldiers to the commander, then to the general in charge, and finally to the aircraft carrier and ships on standby at sea. This would take say about 3 or 4 hours, assuming that the process was done with the utmost urgency and efficiency. Then the body or bodies would be flown by helicopter to a military base in Pakistan after the President of Pakistan and Barack Obama were being told that Osama had been killed by them. These bodies were then taken to say an aircraft carrier anchored off the cost of Pakistan. It would take another 4 hours. It seemed that some Muslim religious people were already at sea to give his last rites to Osama by giving prayers to him before Osama and the other dead bodies were cast into the sea. I can't believe that these "infidel" Americans would go to the extent of treating Osama's body with a semblance of veneration. Most probably, the officers would be kicking and stomping on the dead man for his years of thumbing his nose at the Americans and in evading capture.
No, I surmise that this was how it happened. It's true that the Americans have tracked Osama to the mansion in the town of Abbotabad, some 40 km north of Islamabad, Pakistan. On the fateful day, after the operations was approved by Obama, US special forces laid an ambush on the mansion. It was done in secret; the highest authority of Pakistan was not even told of the operation for fear that the info might be leaked to Osama, somehow. Osama and the three others were shot in what US said a "firefight". Osama's body with the other 3 bodies were secretly flown to an aircraft carrier where the 3 bodies were disposed off at sea. Osama's body, however, was flown to Washington or somewhere in US for George Bush to see. As I write, the body is still lying somewhere in "state" for the other US officials and the family of those killed in the twin towers in 9/11. Only then would the body Osama be disposed off in secret, cremated or buried in an unknown grave.
In the US, it's a common practise for families of victims in murder cases, to witness the execution of murderers by hanging, gassing, or electrocution. In the same way, the body of Osama, would in reality be displayed for George Bush and the others to gloat at last. As for the story that Osama bin Laden was buried at sea, according to Muslim rites, it is one big bullshit.
Update 04/05/2011 Wednesday: True enough, as I had already guessed, the body of Osama was flown to an aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz, or the USS Carl Vinson on the Arabian Sea from where it was claimed that Osama was "buried at sea, according to Muslim rites". In reality, his body was flown to US for George Bush and the others to see.
