The memoirs of Mahathir ....

I have just finished reading the memoirs of Mahathir Mohammad. The book is easily readable from the viewpoints of simplicity in composition and the avoidance in using big words. Mahathir describes his early years in Kedah, his growing-up years with his parents and how his mother especially, shaped and moulded his character. With a penchant for reading and a curiousity to know what went on around the world, he was successful at school. Ever the bright student, even during his secondary school days he participated in extra-curricular activities that were rarely seen by Malayan students these days.

His memoirs takes us to the times of the Japanese occupation, to the post World War II British military administration of Malaya and to the times of the Emergency from 1948 to 1960.
